Forgot to upload my 'Out & About' layout & the 'Thx' card I did for Reminisce yesterday!
LOVE these new Dog Park papers! Who'd a 'thunk' it (as my Mom would have said), to use a Dog Line for making a TY card! lol. But here you go, living proof. And a simple, easy-peasy card that literally took 5 minutes to put together! Even better! Nothing wrong with Short & Sweet in my book!

Happy Independence Day!

Ok, so I'm a couple of days early! But, I'm working this weekend, and probably won't have time to get on here for a few days. So
Happy Independence Day America!
My card is simple and easy-peasy, which makes me like it even more, lol! I made it using Reminisce's 4th/DC collection. I LOVE this line! Maybe cuz it makes me think of where I grew up, who knows?

Anyway, cut a few star shapes with my George & Basic Shapes cartridge, and layered them. Done. Well, ok, I made a little ribbon banner and added a 'Congratulations' Stamp, so I could upload my card to the PC Gallery Idol Flickr gallery. I can't wait to see who makes it to the top 20 of that contest! LOTS of amazing entries!
Anywhoo ~ There you go, easy-peasy, my kind of card :)
Hope, wherever you are, you are are enjoying this beautiful weekend & celebrating our freedoms! Thanks to all those who serve to afford that for us all!

Father's Day Cards

Reminisce makes the greatest themed papers, that are oh-so-versatile - as you'll see here. These papers & stickers are from the Monkey Adventures line! Lots of monkeys and race cars and spaceships vrooming and zooming around on these papers, SO cute! But I thought the blues & greens in this line would make for a great Father's Day card as well. Hopefully you'll agree! I cut out the monkey in the spaceship and inserted a photo of Matt - he even conveniently has his shades on his head, as if he's got his 'space goggles' on, ready to rocket into the atmosphere! While Matt happens to be my Brother-In-Law, and NOT my father (LOL!), I still thought it made for a cute Father's Day idea!

~AND~
The Reminisce Celebration Series has So many versatile papers, it's several mini-collections in one! I LOVE it! So I chose to use the 'Hollywood' papers/stickers to make another Father's Day Card! Also used some Glitter Factory on this - the Shimmering Rubies is at the bottom on the card front, and the black glittery 'Dad' is cut from Jetsetter Black! This is the BEST glitter paper! Honest!
On the inside, I used several word/phrase stickers from the coordinating sticker sheet to convey the sentiment and message!

So my In-Laws 50th wedding anniversary is upon them, and this is the card I made for them. The sentiment is from the Storybook cricut cartridge. I didn't photo the inside, but it's layered the same as the front, with swirly photo corners cut from the Home Accents cartridge. Finally doing some cricut-ing again :D TFL!

CARDS - Summer & Waves challenge ~

Ok, so the challenge on the CARDS blog this week is to make a Summer card with Waves! So, while I might still whip another one up, this one I had made actually uhm...a {long} time ago, but it meets the criteria, imho. This was the first time I used a photo on a card. I really like how it turned out. And I still have it! I haven't had occasion to give/send it yet! Seeing it again, and seeing the CARDS challenge is motivating me to make another one though:)

Finally~ I'm back, and am shocked myself that I am making a post! Whew! Where has the time gone? Flying right by, I tell ya...
I am always inspired by the Tuesday Trigger, but I actually had time to make a card this week. And it was actually done 2 days ago, with the exception of letters that I had spritzed to get them the right color...and now they are dry, and I don't like how they looked, lol. So I will use them on another project, and I used a stamp instead (for the sentiment). Go figure.
Anyway, here it is.

Organizing 101...

Ok, so go ahead and get a good chuckle out of this pic, I do! BIG LOL!
How is it? That someone who a.d.o.r.e.s her scrapping supplies, and the room that contains them, can't seem to keep them preciously organized in order to properly relish them? Who knows. Aby Garvey knows. And thanks to her Organizing 101 class, I'm going to get a handle on it all. And here's the kicker...then proceed on...to organize my whole house. Yep. That's right. And I don't know who might (or might not be, lol) reading this, but now I'm feeling all accountable and everything, since I've said it outloud!
But this is a good thing. And sometime in the next few weeks, as I progress through the Organizing 101 lessons, I WILL have this mess organized, into the beautiful place this room deserves to be. (Then maybe I'll be inclined to add some nice decorating touches, as clearly I've yet to do that, lol).
Then, I'll proudly post my 'after' photos. Then, I'll make a plan to do my house, even if it's room by room, or drawer by drawer. Whatever makes it happen. That's my plan folks.

Howdy Friends! Have you seen all the latest and greatest we have to offer here at Purple Cows? We gave a sneak peak of our new catalog last week, and we are all SO excited about all the AMAZING new tools we've rustled up for you to get crafty with! Today, I thought we could look at just 2 of these Udderly Fantastic tools.

First up, is the CraftGeek Punch It! This is the punch that 'beats all punches'! One punch = endless patterns! There are clearly marked paper & alignment guides on the base, so you can line the punch up perfectly every time, and every which way you choose to! There are 5 different Filigree Pattern punches available. The one used on this project is 'Winter' model #7201.

Next up, is the CraftGeek Pin It! Hold on to your hats girls, because you can use this Decorative Stapler, ANYWHERE on your page or project. That's right, anywhere! The top and bottom are separate pieces that align magnetically (and perfectly!) anywhere on your page. So now you can have a decorative staple, wherever you want it! With 5 different styled pins, you have plenty of design options available to you now! On this card, I used model #7002 'Winter Hearts' in Red.

Now, let's make a card!

1. Using your Purple Cow 2 in 1 Combo Trimmer model #1040, cut the card base 9" x 6 1/2". Here, I used Core'dinations Color Core cardstock Vintage Collection 'Pink Tutu'. Fold along the long edge so your card measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".

2. Use the CraftGeek Punch It! 'Winter' model #7201 and punch one 'corner' section on the top edge of the card, on both the left and right sides.

3. Trim a piece of Cosmo Cricket's 'Chemistry: Forget Me Not' (backside) 4 1/2" x 4 1/4". Staple a border of 'Winter Hearts' in Red along the top edge of this piece, using the CraftGeek Pin It! model #7000. Use fine-tip scissors and trim the border edge along the staple line, to enhance the decorative stapled border.

4. Ink the edges of this piece with Colorbox Cat's Eye Inks in Dark Brown. Run the Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro along both sides and bottom edge on the back of the trimmed piece, and adhere to the front of the card base, making a pocket.

5. Trim a Journaling Card from Cosmo Cricket's 'Chemistry' line, and cut around the edge. Ink with Colorbox Cat's Eye Inks in Warm Red. Place this inside the pocket on the front of the card.

6. Select 2 of the 'Button Fashions' from the 'Chemistry' line. Here, I used 2 of the shapes that have layers, and separated the layers. Using the thinner outer layer of 2 shapes, cut a small section from each piece, and adhere the ends back together with Glue Arts Extreme Micro Adhesive Squares. You should have 2 sections that are slightly curled up now. Adhere the larger one using the Micro Adhesive Squares, to the bottom right corner of your card front.

7. Using Helmar's Scrap Dots Adhesive, adhere the smaller curled edge just inside the larger one, off-setting the 'petal' edges. Knot a piece of Ivory Grosgrain ribbon through the button-holes on the center piece, and using your fingers curl up the edges of the petals for added dimension. Adhere this to the center using the Scrap Dots to really pop it out!

I know, I've not been a very good blogger of late. WHEW! Getting ready for the holidays has been getting the best of me this year, but it's all good, ya know? :D

{Consider yourself Warned: I know I haven't posted in a while. So, I figure I'll do it up right now~ This is a word/picture heavy post!}

Hello Crafty Friends & Welcome to Designer Friday!
Since it appears that Thanksgiving is sneaking right up on us, I thought I'd take a moment to share a favorite Thanksgiving Holiday Home Decor project!

This wreath was so easy to make with my favorite Purple Cows Smart Trimmer Model 1060, and the Freestyle Mouse Cutting Kit! Together with the Designer Collection Click Blades you'll have 12 fabulous edges to pick from to use for the leaves and flowers! How cool is that?

To begin with, I just cut a large circle from a piece of heavy cardboard. Cut a smaller inside circle and you have your wreath base. Wrap this with a fall-colored wire-edged ribbon. Your base is complete, and now you can embellish!
I chose Cosmo Cricket's Haunted collection to make my paper embellishments.

For the flowers: Trace the pattern onto the paper of your choice (I used Cosmo's Haunted Collection), and cut along the lines with the Freestyle Mouse.

Secure the tab behind the petal next to the tab, with a Glue Dot. This will give your flower a 'cupped' shape. Ink the edges with ClearSnaps Colorbox Cat's Eye Inks. Adhere a berry in the middle to give your flower a center. {Berrys were taken from leaf & berry picks found at the local craft store, in the floral section.}

For the leaves: Use the Freestyle Mouse and your favorite Decorative Click Blade edge to cut out some leaves. Crinkle the cut leaves in your hand. When you uncrinkle them, ink the edges with Cat's Eye Inks (you can also lightly run the inkpad over the whole leaf, and it will give the leaf a distressed look)! Make several, a few to attach to each side of your flower cluster, and a couple for the top flower/sentiment cluster.

Make a few spirals to add to the flower cluster: Trim a narrow strip of paper and wrap it around a pencil (your paper piercer works too!). Carefully pull the pencil (or piercer) out from the spiral, and 'fluff' it to your liking. Adhere one end behind the flowers, so you have spirals on either side of the flower cluster.

Ok, nearly there! Whew! Thanks for hanging in with me:)
Just have the Sentiment to do: Take a journal card, cut from the journal card sheet that coordinates with the Cosmo Cricket Haunted Paper. Trim off the top and bottom orange swirls. Ink the edges with Black.

Adhere them together (for extra strength, you can put a strip of scrap cardstock behind on the adhered line). Place your sentiment lettering on this new journal piece. Adhere at the top of your wreath, along with a flower or two.

Add some Blingy Flourishes around the edge of your wreath, and your ready to hang it up to help you celebrate this season of Thanks!

Learn Something New Every Day

Ok, WHO doesn't LOVE a SHIMELLE class? Of course, I'm in for this one! I had such good intentions, and started a book 2 years ago...and well, lol...let's just say I got a cover made, and that was it! lol. But this time, I'm determined. I made it smaller. I cut my pages to size already. I just have to do some dates (might use a stamp - SUPER EASY is my goal this time around). And embellish, along with adding my 'lesson' for the day!
This might be tough, as I'm (supposed) to be studying for my NCC-OB exam too. Which I take on the 24th of this month, and for which I only just started studying, SHHHhhhhh, don't tell! SO we'll see how it goes!
In any case, I figure I can't lose. If I get some pages done...I'm good. I got to make something, and document that I can be learnt, lol. (for those who doubt it, lol). If I don't (get pages done), I'm still good. Cuz I will always have the prompts, and I can do it whenever I want! So there ~

Unity Challenge

Apparently I'm up for challenges this week! How could I resist though, with a Card Style Mag from Paper Crafts Magazine up for grabs, as well as an itty bitty stamp from Unity!
Now, don't laugh...it's probably my first 'real' attempt at a Shabby Chic style card. I SO admire this style! I always feel like I don't have 'the right stuff' to put together to make one though!
But with some of the goodies that came in my Little Black Dress Kit (so generously given courtesy of Donna Downey!), I think I got the right stuff. It's now a matter of whether I can manage to put 'the right stuff' together to make a cute card! So forgive me, if I don't have 'design 101' down quite yet, on this card. But I kinda like it! TFL!

Challenge #2 at Simply ArTistiC was to use this vintage picture to inspire your ATC. So I bought the book I could find that had a vintage picture on it, and cut that out and used part of it. It was a cool picture, but this was the best part, to fit within the size limitations. I'm liking this ATC thing, but it is a challenge for me, as I don't usually do things this small! I can't imagine making an inchie, lol! TFL!

Tim Challenge

SO I was really excited to particpate in THIS challenge at the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog, and it only took me all afternoon to finish something I was happy with! LOL! I have lots of 'TIM' stuff, and you would think it wouldn't be that hard, after all, he is the master at sharing his techniques, right? Right!

3 things I learned today: 1: I like this blog and will definitely be participating more often! 2: Now I know you can't just HAVE all the goodies, you have to USE them - the only way you will get what you want the FIRST time you go to make something (lol). & 3: I'm actually thankful for all my 'mishaps' today, cuz now I have lots of 'bits & pieces' of TIM stuff, (stamped images and half done tags) that I can make into something else! Win-Win for me:)

The theme for now, on the blog, is Alice in Wonderland. There are 2 challenges per month, and there are of course, possible prizes! YEAH! Everyone loves prizes, right? But for me, mostly, it's just fun to try something new and different! I love seeing what everyone else creates too. LOTS of v.e.r.y. beautiful cards came out of the first challenge!
I thought I wasn't going to get mine done, but unexpectedly got to be on-call at work last night, and thankfully had time to participate! It was fun!
The new challenge is up if you want to play along...I guarantee you, it will be a good time! Off to work something up for this new challenge~ come check it out!

Me again...finally! You know how you have 'good intentions' of getting LOTS of stuff done in a given week? Uh Huh! Me too! Well, suffice it to say, that while I didn't get NEARLY enough scrapping time in, my house basically got the Spring Clean it desperately needed...so that was probably a good thing, LOL!

In any case...I really, REALLY wanted to participate again at Card Positioning Systems, and while I didn't get to make as 'fancy' a card as I imagined...I did whip up this sweet, simple card for a friend who has a birthday next week! Yay, I'm that much ahead of myself, lol!

This is the first time I've played along with Card Positioning Systems, so TFL! I am not so sure how I like the butterfly against the busier paper. But I LOVE that paper. Trying to use up some of the beautiful papers I have here, so I can (at some point) justify splurging on all the new yumminess we saw unveiled at CHA this week! Whew. I have my work cut out for me!
Anyway, needed a (belated) b-day card for a friend. While it doesn't say anything on the outside, it's got a special handwritten message on the inside. I think she'll like it.
I will definitely have to play along with CPS more often! Great fun as well, to see what everyone else has created! Lots 'o talent out there!!

Recently, I had the good fortune to reconnect with some very special people in my life. People whom, though I may have lost touch with many years ago, I think of often. Only problem with that being, they don't KNOW you're thinking of them. So I most certainly should have made much more of an effort to get back in touch with them, and I didn't. Shame on me.

Lucky for me, Susie made the effort, and it's been great to get to chat with them and see pictures of their family. I'm excited that we have plans in the near future to meet up and get to talk for real. I'm looking forward to that!

In talking to her, I learned that her son, who is in the Army, just got deployed to Iraq. I'm sure it goes without saying, that this has been a very challenging time for her & her husband, and the rest of the family. Even though, her son & I don't know each other really, I just really wanted to make him something. Or, make her something to send to him. I can't imagine how difficult this time must be for them, and I think it can only help for them to know that people care. With that in mind, I got her permission to make him a card. I may not know him, but he'll know that the folks at home are proud of him, and thankful for his service & sacrifice, and hopefully it will help him to know that we are thinking of him and praying for him. Am I the QUEEN of run-on sentences or what?

So here it is: SGT Terry R. Murphy, this will be on it's way to you, soon as I write a note in it {tomorrow}~

Inside simply says '...American', and the rest is blank for a note.
I hope he likes it.
So if you know a soldier, let him/her know you're thinking of them. It will help them get home that much faster~

So I've been reading about THIS blog...and somehow never made my way there, until now (GASP!) SO COOL!!!! And one of the current challenges that's up is to create a card based on the layout pictured above!
I LUUUUUUUUUUV the Unwritten line by Reminisce, and this just seemed a great way to use it!

You should play along too, they are giving a Moxie Fab Prize away on Wed July 21! Make a card, based on the layout at the top of this post, and link your creation back to the Moxie Fab World Blog by Monday July 19, and they will post the winners on Wed the 21st. GOOD LUCK, & TFL!
I really liked the design of this layout by Jen Jockish, and the color scheme she used. The Unwritten line has a similar color palette, and I sketched the layout to use for my card design. The 3D die-cut stickers worked great as the circular accents, and the journal spot & card worked great to create my sentiment (where the layout had a photo) and address the card to my wonderful friend Ellen! {I was already making this card for her yesterday, when I learned last night that she just lost her father unexpectedly. I can't think of a better time to let her know she is a great friend, and I'm here for her!}

Just wanna say, Happy Mother's Day, to all my friends in blogland :D
I'm not a 'real' mother myself, {I'm a doggie-mama}, so the only thing that will happen today, is SLEEP...Glorious Sleep {after work}! But, this day does make me think of the 'motherly' women in my life ~ both past, and present. My Mother, My Grandmother's, My Mother-In-Law, my Sister-in-Law (Ella & Vivi's Mother),and all my friends who are Mother's.
It would be an incredibly long post to list how they've all affected my life, in their own way. Suffice it to say, that I'm thankful for each one of them, and the experiences I've had with them, all that I've learned from them, and for all that I remember of them (My Mother & Grandmother's).
I even got to take care of a young Mom-to-Be tonight, who went into labor and is having her first babies, on Mother's Day. SO this makes it her first, and what a gift she's receiving today (courtesy of an epidural, lol)~ SO happy for her and her family!

Purple Cow St. Patty's Day Blog Hop...

OK ladies...you should have arrived here by way of the fabulously talented Paula Nelson-Hart's blog! If not, you can start over HERE, and click on through to learn how to make some fabulous projects, using the BEST scrapbooking tools on the market!
I went easy-peasy this time...sometimes simple just wins out for me. I wanted to make a quick, but pretty bookmark, and what better way than to laminate a pretty piece of Queen & Co. felt fusion? Easy, simple, and pretty, and super-quick! I chose just to tie a piece of Ivory ribbon through to make a pretty knot at the top. You could decorate it up even more if you like...brads, letters, stickers...you name it! This is for a friend who likes things rather unembellished (Gasp!), so, hard as it was...I chose to leave well-enough alone this time! :D
Supply List: 3020 Laminator, Queen & Co. Felt Fusion (trimmed to size), 4020 4x6" Hot Pocket, Scissors, Ivory Ribbon.
Here's how it was done:
1. Place the Felt Fusion inside the Hot Pocket, trimming the end so you have a length that will fit perfectly inside the pocket.

2. Remove adhesive backing from the Felt Fusion and trim ends to fit inside pocket as necessary. Run hot pocket through the laminator. {Since the felt is a little bit thick, I ran it through twice, to be sure all edges are sealed!}

3. Using your scissors, trim around the edges of the now sealed Felt Fusion, giving a graceful edge to your bookmark.
4. Tie a piece a Ivory ribbon through a hole punched in the top, and you have a easy-peasy, simple but elegant bookmark to use or give as a sweet, simple gift to a friend!

'Bust Your Stash'...

Can I just say - THIS IS THE PERFECT CLASS FOR ME!!! My beautiful, sassy, oh-so-funny friend & Co-CowGirl JING-JING & I were JUST chatting about this to each other...dare I say, HAVING too much? Or maybe, more appropriately, lol, would be to say...'not using enough' of it...speaking of course of our stash of scrapbooking supplies! SUCH good timing, for Shimelle, to offer a class on Busting your Stash! PERFECTION for a mere $15! SIGN ME UP! (well, lol, I did, instantly...cuz sometimes I'm just really smart like that!)

I'm in this all the way! I SOOOOO NEED THIS CLASS!!

So, the pre-class challenge, is to post a shot or 2 of your stash, and fess up to why you haven't used it...and what your goals are for the class. Let me just say, that to the latter..I have no idea, except to use stuff. But maybe it will come to me, miraculously, why I type this. Here is just a small sampling (lol) of some stuff I've had, that I use bits and pieces of, that I would really like to do something with. {& believe me when I say 'small sampling', I mean really...I didn't even photograph paper, lol}

Why haven't I used it? Well, I have, some of it...bits & pieces. Why not all? Why not the hundreds more of similar items: papers, bling, chipboard shapes & letters, stamps, inks, paints, brads, eyelets, snaps, staples, stickers, flowers, buttons, bows, ribbons, fibers, punches, frames, photo corners, jumprings, hangy-things of all sorts, buckles, embossing powders & templates, ghost shapes, tags, brackets, mists & sprays, pens, pencils, glitter, glue & tape....oh my!!

I think the truth is...I'm going to go ahead and say it...I have too much to choose from {But I'm not complaining about that!!} I know I'm lucky to have every bit of it! But, the fact remains...when I go to make something, I can only pull out a few things, or I get overwhelmed with all the choices. It's like going into a fabulous scrap store...the best thing ever...but soooo hard to make a decision of what to leave with!

I have recently bought some new things, but I promise to not use anything new in this class. {Here comes part 2 of the challenge...declare your goals!} I'm going to ONLY use stuff I've had for more than 1 month. lol. I know, that doesn't sound like much...but trust me, it will still make an appropriate dent in the supplies here. And as I go...I'm going to decide what I just really don't see myself using anymore...and toss it (carefully) into a box, to give to my scrappy friends, or anyone else with an interest, when the class is done!

There. That's my plan. Who knows, it might get bigger/better as class progresses. But I'm starting with that, and I'll be happy to not only make something great with stuff I've had hanging around...but to share some scrappy-love :D

SUCH a good question! The time has just FLOWN by since Christmas! Or maybe that's just me? Tell me I'm not the only one whose life is just zoooming by (or so it seems!)

Hi Friends, Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday!
I got the best gift of all...I get to stay home with my hubs and pups tonight, instead of having to go t work WHOO HOO!!! & while I'll miss my Helen & Jen and other friends there, I hope they have a great night (and hope the patients do too!). And I promise to NOT eat all the shrimp dip my H.H.D. {handsome husband Dave} made for them! :D

FIRST~ I want to say THANKS for having fun with us today! I know you'll come away with lots of great holiday ideas, and I'm sure many will translate (with a few tweeks) into all-year-round-scrappy-goodness for you! SO, on with my little part in this bit of holiday fun!

I'm thinking everyone is super-busy right about now, so I decided to take a 'simple is best' approach for today! Lucky for all of us, Cosmo Cricket makes creating SUPER EASY & FUN! Take these double-sided Jolly by Golly holiday papers, for instance. They do all the work for you. Really. Not kidding. Just look for yourself.
Want to make some simple & cute handmade holiday tags?

Well, here's what you do~
{supply list included at the bottom, for easy reference}
1. Using the decorative-edged blade of your choice, cut your selected tags from the Jolly by Golly 'Elements' paper.
2. Ink edges with coordinating color.
3. Punch a hole in the corner & thread your favorite holiday/coordinating colored ribbon through the hole.
4. Smile with JOY! You just added the perfect little handmade touch to your gifts!
~You can also make cute tags with the coordinating sticker line. Choose your sticker/tag, back it with a piece of coordinating paper. Punch a hole in the top/side, and thread your fiber through!
Better yet~ Do both!! Have fun with it!!

Finally...made a card. First one in a LooooooooooooooooooooonG time! And I know, nothing fabulous, but I think it turned out pretty :) I made a few to give to our neighbors at the store, yeah! (which, btw, is the reason I have not scrapped much lately, except some DT stuff).
BIG FUN in store next week! I can't say what yet, but there will be prizes involved, lol. That's never a bad thing, now is it? Soon as I can say, I will.

News #1: We are having a tremendously positive response to our "Creative Round-Up" event, planned for Friday, October 16th, here on our Blog!!

~What to do to be included (please read carefully)~

ALL layouts (cards, etc) received WILL BE included in the Oct 16th "Creative Round-Up" as long as they indicate WHICH sketch they used to create their entry.

What to do:

1. Just create a LO, Card, Tag, or Bookmark from ANY "Sketches: Creatively Yours" sketch, and send it to peteali@eastlink.ca

2. YES: You may create MORE than one entry. MAXIMUM entries: 3 (three). PLEASE email each one separately.

3. MUST indicate which sketch you used! (TY!!)

4. Indicate full name or screen name you want your creation attributed to. Include your Blog addy if you have one. Know that these WILL be posted alongside your creations at the "Creative Round-Up" unless I am advised otherwise that you prefer me NOT to post them. It's OK: in that case, we can simply attibute them to "Anonymous." :)

News #2: DESIGN TEAM CALL!!

"Sketches: Creatively Yours" Blog http://creativelyyourssketches.blogspot.com/ is seeking a DT of 4-5 people who will serve a term of 5 months as designers/interpreters of card, layout, bookmark, tag and library pocket sketches!

Term will run from Nov 1- March 31, 2010.

[This 5 month term includes a 3 week break during the month of December, with the dates of this break TBA.]

At S: CY, we enjoy creative fun but since we are not a kit club or a SB'ing store, we cannot reward you with product. We will push the limits of your creativity and explore new ways of enjoying our hobby. Additionally, your work will be seen by many other designers and crafters! You’ll have great online exposure during your time on the Design Team at "Sketches: Creatively Yours." I am also willing to provide you with a WRITTEN reference with regard to the work you do for S:CY, should you ever need it. Just contact me via email with your request.

DESIGN TEAM Application Deadline: October 18th – midnight, Atlantic time.

Submit your work to Ali MacDonald at peteali@eastlink.ca following the guidelines/rules below.

In order to apply, you are kindly asked to:

1. Participate: I'm looking for "positivity " and evidence that you are following the blog. (ie: commenting, mentioning S:CY on YOUR blog, using a S: CY sketch here and there and posting it on your Blog, etc...);

2. Create: Choose ANY Sketch from the S:CY Blog and send me your interpretation/creation using that sketch. Include name and sketch number please.

3. Answer this question: What do you like BEST about working from scrappy sketches? (No longer than 4 sentences, thanks!)

4. Become a "Follower" of S:CY (scroll up, then look to the right at the top of the blog, & just follow the directions you will see under "Become a Follower."

All are welcome to apply regardless of location.

Here are the responsibilities of our succcessful DT applicants:

~Create scrapbook layouts, cards, bookmarks, and tags, in addition to "library pockets" from sketches provided to you by myself, or another Sketch Artist.

~There will be an opportunity to accept offers of various "special assignments."

~ Designers are expected to send in their completed work by the specified due date. [Usual workload (or fun-load! LOL, 'cause it is a LOT of fun! ) can be expected to be about 3-4 sketches per month.]

~Additionally, you will be expected to post comments regularly on your co-designers' work, and to visit and comment on the blogs and work of our wonderful S:CY fans and followers when they leave us a link.

~ Post on your Blog(s) about S:CY and provide a link so folks can come and visit us.

~ Display our blinkie (which I will provide) everywhere you are permitted, but especially on your own Blog.

~ Tell everyone you know about CY!

I'm Stoked! I've never participated at 2 Sketches 4 You & I FINALLY DID! YEAH! That makes 3 cards in 3 days~I guess I'm on a roll~although...and this is NOT NOT NOT to garner complements, BELIEVE me...it's just me being my usual insecure self. IGNORE!!! Seriously. But I won't be myself, if I don't say it. {Not totally sure about this card~BUT it's growing on me now that it's done & blogged} isn't that silly? WHY would that matter? Who knows.

Whew! It's been sooooooooo long since I got to participate at Card Patterns!! I have really been going through FCSW! {Fabulous Card Sketch Withdrawal--and before you question that diagnosis, remember~ I'm a nurse, :D}

Here I go combining again! I needed to do up a 6x12 lo for Sketches:Creatively Yours (that was a first!). And I wanted to participate in Regina's challenge over at Bitten By The Bug and use the 'ribbon' shape from the Paper Pups Cricut Cartridge! (another first). It's a simple lo, but I sure loved my little Richie-bug (as I called him), so I love scrapping anything up about him. Anyway, I can tell I'll be checking BBTB out much more often, since I've been wanting some motivation to use my cricut to it's potential, and I know I don't do that now! HA! Who knows, I might fool myself! :D TFL!!

New Happenings...

in lots of places~
First...my fave sketch site, is now called Sketches:Creatively Yours! Exciting times for Ali, and all of us at CY! Check it out! And be sure to see what the Oh-So-Amazing-Angie {founder of ScrapScene} did, as she is the GDT this month! Be warned...you might need a hanky to collect the drool, lol. And on a side note: this was my take~simple...but a favorite picture of my Grandparents:) Love you Maxine & Jimmy!
Second...I worked my LAST DAY as a teacher, officially, yesterday! WHOO HOO!!!! Now, don't get me wrong...I love teachers, and I loved, loved, loved that job! But it was really wearing on me, as it had become SUPERstressful over the last year or so. So...while I feel very blessed to have had that experience, and to know I helped lots of people get started in their healthcare careers...I was happy to pass the torch on~Good Luck Ms. Hays!!
Third...We now have new keys, to a new business. While we aren't open, as of yet, it's still very exciting times for us, as this new adventure in our lives, takes off! {hubs is starting a Gold Buying Business!} So...much more on that, to come in the near future, I'm sure. But I'm psyched!
Fourth...jeez...4th? Ok...this is last, promise! One reason I'm so nearly-pee-in-my-pants-excited about the new business, is that I will have a Scrap Desk/Room there too! WHOO HOO!! Do you KNOW how cool this is? I mean, I already feel fortunate to have a whole room at home for that. (no kids, hence....extra bedroom :D). But, the business before us, was a semi-crafty business. So...lol...automatic crafty work area....The Goddesses certainly aligned for me the day we walked into that space, now didn't they? {HUGE GRIN!}
and Lastly...ok, ok, I know...I promised...but I have to give a huge shout out, to my lovely and loyal friends, who have been patient and kind while I've been away from the online world, for a variety of reasons lately! YOU GIRLS ARE THE BEST!!!

Really? Since I've posted? MAN...the time has really gotten away from me! I blame it on work....C-R-A-Z-Y (to the gazillionth power, is that possible?) BUT...I'm back with a vengence this week. Is that even the right word?
My plan is to actually scrap some...cuz I need to...and more important, I WANT TO!!! LOL.
But also, to get caught up with my friends and blogging and such! I know, I know...I had expected to that much sooner than now. But you know, sometimes life throws you those curve balls...and you just gotta go with that flow, kwim?
Well....I want to THANK you my loyal friends, for keeping an eye out for me, and for hoping I was ok! I was fine...just indundated! (You know it's bad, when I don't even get on here and have time to complain about it, lol)!

So, I'll leave you with a little something I whipped up for Creatively Yours, and you should go check out the other Designers work~Amazing as always! They are always on the lookout for Guest Designers, so you should come whip something up with one of Ali or Noella's sketches, and give it a go, as they say!

about now...tough weekend at work...and a busy week before that even. But Monday got here, and for most people, that means back to the grind. For me, it's the first day off...weird, eh? That's how it's been for awhile, and will be for another (probably long) while. Not complaining mind you...I'm happy with how things are...and what we are doing...but sometimes it's a bit much, ya know? WHEW! Deep Breath....(practicing what I preach, cuz I tell my students to do this ALL, and I mean, A.L.L. the time, lol)!

I didn't get anything (feels like) done this week. What is up with THAT? ARGH!! Anyway...
I made this for the SBKC contest. The challenge was to take inspiration from a Michael Jackson song, and make a card or layout.
So, I did this. It's a 2 pgr I guess. But it really is done on Side A, and Side B, like a record has 2 sides? Get it? In any case...the song title was 'A Brand New Day'...TFL! I promise to get more done next week, AND be a better blogger, and COME & SEE MY FRIENDS~ which sadly I have not had a chance (yet) to do this week...but I WILL I PROMISE! Love you ALL!

Finished this weeks DT entries for SBKC's Summer Contest. TFL!
The challenge here was to use Texture~I think I accomplished that! LOL!

The challenge here was to use patterned papers from 6 different manufacturer's. I was inspired to cut my papers up (mostly) and use them for the branch, flowers (in some way), and as a journal spot. And of course the background counts too:) TFL!

Ok, for those who saw a couple of posts ago...I'm participating in the Scrapbook Kit Club DT contest going on right now!
One of this weeks challenges, was to be inspired by the Ad that's posted. (You need to go check it out!).
So here's what I came up with. TFL!

{I realize they don't photograph well, but the green/blue wave, is all beaded~looks way cooler IRL! And for the record, while it is a DT submission, I'm not real fond of the larger lettering I used here. They are cute, but I gave most of chipboard up to a worthy cause, lol...so given that it was midnight, and I had to work early this morning...I did the best I could with what I had, lol...I still kinda like it. But it's NOT what I originally envisioned. The waves are. And I like how the pics turned out. I"m not sure about the rest. I like the flowers too. lol. You let me know what you think! I'm a big girl, I can take it, LOL!}

Ad Challenge

ok, so I'm actually going to do a layout for my Ad Challenge entry (for SBKC DT contest). BUT...I was too tempted to do a card too. So, I don't think I should post the ad...but you can check it out here. And we are supposed to use the ad for inspiration. Use the colors, the design, the theme...whatever...so I did a little of all of that. LOL.
It's a beach scene, with the colors brown/teal/blue/yellow & orange. And colorful waves are part of the design. So here ya go. Inside says '...you were here'. TFL!

It's also the first time I've used a photo on a card. I took this pic while we were in Key West...makes me want to go back to the beach! :D
